Одна звичка за раз

Daily Habit Loop holds one Cue → Action → Mark loop on purpose. Here is what that choice means, and how to set up a loop you can finish today.

Why the product holds one loop

This is a design decision, not a claim about which method works best. A list of habits has to be read, sorted and re-planned; a single loop asks one question — did I do it today? Daily Habit Loop is built for that second case, so there is nothing to reorganise and no dashboard to maintain. If you want to run ten habits at once, a different tool will suit you better.

Сигнал

Pick a moment that already happens every day.

Дія

Make it small enough to finish on a bad day.

Позначка

Note that it happened. That closes the day.

How to choose a cue

A cue is the moment that starts the loop, and the useful ones are already in your day. Attach the habit to something that reliably happens: after morning tea, when the kettle clicks, after you sit down at your desk, after you wash your face. Prefer an event over a clock time, because an event carries its own reminder. Say it as a sentence — after X, I do Y — and if X is vague, like “sometime in the evening”, pick a sharper moment.

How to make the action small

Shrink the action until it sounds almost too easy. Not “write”, but “write three sentences”. Not “exercise”, but “one short stretch”. Not “read more”, but “read one page”. The test: could you finish it on a tired, late, badly planned day? If not, halve it. Nothing stops you from continuing after the mark — the small version is the floor, not the ceiling.

Then mark the day

The mark is the closing step: you note that the action happened. Daily Habit Loop then shows the last seven days, so a gap is visible without being turned into a score. A missed day is a gap, not a verdict — set the same cue tomorrow.

Who this suits, and who it does not

One loop suits restarting after a long gap, a habit that takes a few minutes, or anyone who has abandoned a crowded dashboard before. It does not suit shared goals, project plans, several habits at once, or anything that needs notifications, reports or history beyond a week.

When one habit is not enough

Keep the loop until you stop deciding about it. Then change the loop to the next habit if you want to — the tracker holds one at a time, so a new habit replaces the old one instead of joining a list. Some people keep the same loop for months; others swap often. Both are ordinary.

Nothing here claims that one-habit systems are scientifically better than any other approach. This page explains how the product is built and how to use it well. Free, no account, nothing to install.

Use this shape: one cue, one action, one mark. Keep it small enough for today.
