What “no account” means here
You open the page, write one Cue, one Action and one Mark, and start. There is no email, no password and no sign-up form. Each day you mark the day and see the last 7 days. It is free.
Where your loop is stored
When you open the tracker, the server gives your browser an anonymous cookie named dhl_cid, valid for two years. Your loop and your marks are stored on the server and matched to that cookie. They are not kept only in your browser. The tracker never asks for a name or an email, so nothing links the loop to you except that cookie. The server keeps the most recent 90 days of marks; the page shows the last 7.
What you gain
- Nothing stands between you and your first loop.
- No password to choose, forget or reset.
- No email address to hand over to start.
- Nothing to set up on a second or third try.
What you lose
- It works in one browser only.
- There is no sync between devices.
- Clearing cookies or site data loses the loop for good.
- There is no export.
The costs, in plain terms
One browser. The loop belongs to the cookie in the browser you used. Open the tracker on your phone, or in another browser, and you start with an empty loop.
No cross-device sync. There is no account to sign in to, so there is nothing to sync through.
Clearing cookies, clearing site data for dhl.app, or using a private window means the server can no longer tell it is you. The loop you set up before that is gone from your side, and it cannot be recovered. There is no password reset because there is no password. A loop made in a private window disappears when that window closes, and a normal window will not see it.
No export. You cannot download your loop or your marks. The page shows the last 7 days and nothing longer.
Why we made this trade
For the lowest friction in the first two minutes. A sign-up form is where many people stop before they have done anything. We would rather you try one loop first and decide later whether you want it. This is a design choice, not a claim that no-account is better for everyone.
Who this suits, and who it does not
It suits trying one habit for a few weeks on one device, or restarting after a gap without any setup. It does not suit anyone who needs the loop on a phone and a laptop, who cannot afford to lose their history, or who wants to export it. If that is you, pick a tool with accounts and export.
If you want to keep your loop safe
Use the same browser, do not clear site data for dhl.app, and avoid private windows. Your loop is only three short phrases, so if you want a copy, write them down yourself.
This page describes how Daily Habit Loop works today. It does not claim that a tracker without an account is better than one with an account, and it does not invent users or results. Free, no sign-up.
